Inspiration for this painting came from daily walks on the South Downs near to Brighton. The fields were full of wildflowers, grazing livestock and cereal crops and during the pandemic these fields became the focal point for paintings.
Full of textural mark making in deep olive green oil paint over yellow, and below the horizon line deep chalky grey/white oil and chalk impasto mark over pale blue.
The cradled panel is painted on the sides (the same as the painting).
It is signed on the back and has the studio stamp on the side.
Barley & Chalk is ready to hang on the wall.
